General Subscription Content and Guidelines

"For Badgeholders Only": The Led Zeppelin Internet Mailing List was
established on August 26, 1997. The purpose of this mailing list is to
provide a worldwide forum for in-depth, interactive discussion about Led
Zeppelin during its prime as well as about the diverse directions that
each of the band's former members has taken in music and music production
since the group disbanded.
The topics discussed include, but are never limited to:
* Tours of Led Zeppelin from 1968 to 1980.
* Later tours and albums of The Firm, Outrider, and Jimmy Page's various
other musical ventures.
* Robert Plant's solo efforts as well as his on-again off-again
relationship with Jimmy Page.
* John Paul Jones' solo efforts and production accomplishments.
* Merchandise and convention information, as well as informal gatherings
of list subscribers.
* Discussion of the 10 studio albums and the 2 official live releases.
* Singles, imports, promotional albums, and unofficial live recordings
(bootlegs recordings).
* As well as reviews, updates, and trading information.
Basically anything that can be perceived as relating to the band is fair
game. Be advised, however: Some subject matter will
undoubtedly fall under scrutiny from other members that consider some
content to be "off-topic," but much of that is a matter of individual
opinion. "One man's junk is another man's treasure" is a proverb that
could pertain to these type of posts.
On the List Charter
-------------------
*This is an unmoderated, text-only, self-policing list, and our goal is
for it to remain that way.*
"Unmoderated" means that no one person (listadmins or otherwise) is
reading and/or censoring any opinions or information that you may find of
interest to the general list population. So if you address an email
(post) to zeppelin at zoso dot net, it will end up in the email in-boxes of
hundreds of people.
NOTE: If you just subscribed, your first post will be moderated unless we
know you. The reason for this is because we have lurkers who sub
to the list just to give addy's to spamming ip's. I am slowly but
surely catching these people.
However, there are several policies to which the list expects its members
to adhere to. In brief, these policies prohibit "spam,"
encoded files (including HTML and MIME encoding) and attachments of any
kind included in posts, and commercial posts from non-subscribers. In
addition, the quoting of entire digests or very large extracts thereof is
not permitted. Nearly everything else is allowed, although on-topic posts
are always preferred.
On msg content concerning HTML, MIME, etc:

The Led Zeppelin mailing list (FBO) is a "text only" mailing list.
Messages containing html, and/or mime etc,. will be bounced back to the
list admins and will not be posted to the list. Make sure you have your
email client configured to send "text only" when posting to the list.
Those of you using AOL may have problems doing this. If you use AOL
and can't figure this out, contact Von <PajLvr at aol dot com> and she should
be able to help you out.

Many people subscribe to FBO for the purpose of trading copies of live
recordings. The vast, vast majority of the members of this list are
honest traders. However, as this is an unmoderated and unregulated
mailing list, from time to time dishonest individuals will subscribe. If
you are new to the list, or new to tape trading, follow these commonsense
rules before you dive in:
1) Take part in the list and get to know the people here. You'll be able
to tell who's honest by what a person says and by what others say to (and
about) a person. Remember that the *vast* majority of the traders on this
list are honest and reputable people.
2) If you are about to enter a trade with a person you've never traded
with, privately email one or more of the list members and ask their
opinions. Don't worry; no honest trader (again, the *vast* majority of
us) would take offense to having his or her "bona fides" checked.
3) Remember the golden rule of any transaction: If it sounds too good to
be true, it probably is.
